Moving update

June 14th, 2004 · 3 Comments

Well, we finally got fully moved in and we’re in the new place! In fact, I’m typing from my new office as we speak. We’re really excited (and relieved) to be in the new house, and most of the hard work is behind us. Here’s how the last couple of weeks have gone:

Two Fridays ago: Signed our papers and became the new owners of a big fat loan. Still can’t get the keys to the house, but at least we own something! :)

Last Monday: Had our walkthrough and officially got our keys. Homeowners at last!

Rest of the week: Moved little by little the contents of the condo into the new house. Was a lot of work, but Lorey and our neighbor Laura (with a little help from others like me) did an awesome job. Luckily also, we’re only about a mile away door-to-door so we could take a bunch of little trips rather than one huge one.

Friday night: Spent our first night here. Ryan had a little trouble adjusting, but he’s sleeping great in his room now.

Saturday AM: Rounded up a few people to help us move the bigger stuff and got it moved over. Cleaned the condo, and off we went.

Now, we’re stuck with the unpacking, but we’re getting there… we’re living out of a few boxes and semi-unpacked suitcases still, but it’s working out. The dogs are adjusting as well. They’re not used to having a backyard! We definitely need a couple gates though as they’ve gone around front a few times on me.

That’s about it for now! We’re doing well, same phone number and e-mail if you want to reach us. I’ll try e-mailing our new address out in the near future, if you don’t get an e-mail and want the address, let us know!

I almost forgot. We have an ultrasound tomorrow… details to follow.

Congrats. I’m just finding out how stressfull this home buying thing can be. I’m sure it’s nice to have it over (well…I guess technically it’s not over for 30 more years, but you know what I mean).

Luckily we got the 5/1 ARM so our adjustable rate can go up after 5 years. That decreases the stress ;)
